iFest Houston

This weekend kicks off the Houston International Festival, April 17-18 and ends next weekend, April 24-25. This year they are spotlighting the Caribbean. As expected they have loads of entertainment, cultural dances, and art to enjoy. Great food and fun. I've added a few links if you're interested.

Hank III in Houston on Saturday March 13th

Press release concerning the upcoming show in Houston, Texas:

"Hank III (Hank Williams III), will present a benefit concert for Homes for Our Troops, a non-partisan, non-profit 501 organization that provides specially adapted homes for severely wounded veterans at Wired Live (formerly the Meridian), 1503 Chartres, Houston, TX on Saturday, March 13, 2010. Doors open at 7 pm. Prior to the show, a VIP dinner will be held onsite with attending dignitaries and military personnel.
Hank III, the grandson of Hank Williams, is known for mixing hillbilly country with punk rock rhythms in his marathon performances. He usually plays back-to-back sets—country first as Hank III and the Damn Band and then as heavy industrial punk- rockers Hank III and Assjack.
A very special appreciation presentation will be made honoring Hank III for his support to Homes For Our Troops, and local military personnel and veterans will be attending the show courtesy of local businesses. Hank III will stop through Houston for the benefit show while on his west coast tour.
Opening for Hank III will be former NFL All-Pro offensive lineman Kyle Turley and Texas musician Linda K. Showtime is at 8pm and tickets are available via

Its SXSW time again !!!!

Just something I want to share with you.....

The great SXSW Music download that I discovered while reading Lifehacker, and yes its all legal- it is all music from the SXSW 2010 site, its a huge 3.5GB download with about 646 songs. • Texas State Fair : September 25-October 18 (highlights for me aren’t the rides, the cook offs or even the music, –yes I really said that- for me its the livestock) I love to see all the beautiful cattle, horses and whatever else they happen to be showing at any given time. My newest addition to my “animals I’d love to have a couple of “ list is the Miniature Zebu Cattle , if  you’re interested here's a link to a Texas farm that raises them.  Buffalo Hill Exotics 
• Now this one is where the music comes in : The Butthole Surfers (formed in San Antonio in 1981) are coming to Houston on September 24 at the House of Blues. If you’re interested in tickets here’s the link to Ticketmaster.  It’s a kick off show for their reunion tour this fall. All of them will be there, Gibby Haynes, Jeff Pinkus, King Coffey, Paul Leary and Teresa Taylor. Its a show I would give just about anything to go and see.  So lets take a look at what I’m gonna miss.

These are a few of the lyrics to one of my favorite songs by the Pixies, and that’s exactly how I’ve been feeling lately. I’ve spent so much time doing a whole lot of nothing, that I feel like my head is going to collapse. Well I think I might be back, not a 100% sure just yet, but the cool morning air has me feeling a little more like my old normal self.  I’ve decided to shake all the cobwebs out of my head and off my ass and join the living again. So I’ll try and keep up with this blog a little better. For now take a minute and enjoy my favorite song by the Pixies while I go wash some dishes.  And never forget reality sucks worse when your hands are in dishwater but less when they’re holding someone else's.
