I was reading on some sites today about punk history in Texas and I found an interesting bit of news that really was news to me. I was looking over all the bands listed on Discography of Texas Punk 1977-1983 from collector scum.com and found Uncalled 4 and they were listed at being from Waco, seeing as how I leave so close to Waco and honestly couldn’t imagine a punk band from Waco during those years I decided to give it a little more research. I found a few interesting things that I’d like to share with you:
- First - they’re not really from Waco ( that was apparently a hoax the band perpetrated because they thought it “was cooler to be from Waco than Austin.” Imagine that… sure wouldn’t be that way today. You can read the whole story about the hoax on BreakMyFace.com _ Uncalled 4
- Second I found a couple of Mp3's of their song “cotton fields” and "grind her up" so give them a listen. Its a nice piece of Texas punk history.
